ROBOCLIMBER project

The ROBOCLIMBER project is a research project of which I.CO.P. was coordinator. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the CRAFT programme. The industrial objective of this project is the development of a tele-operated climbing robotic structure (ROBOCLIMBER) for slope consolidation and monitoring, to provide SME with a cost-effective system to remotely and automatically perform deep drilling, thus reducing operating costs and working time, while avoiding the human presence in unsafe and harsh environments.

MICRODRAINAGE project

Duration of the project: 01/02/2003 – 01/05/2005

Contribution: 49.300 €

The MICRODRAINAGE project is a research project of which I.CO.P. was coordinator. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the CRAFT programme. The idea is to overcome limitations of current solutions through a novel combination of the microtunnelling technology adapted with the special draining elements in order to obtain a cost-effective system for safe and final remediation of landfills. Thanks to this patented system, radial drains of small diameter are drilled in the main microtunnel by a remote-control robot in order to remove groundwater. The robotic drilling module sets up a draining layout; then the mobile caterpillar unit, fitted with buffer elements, performs draining manifold insertions.

SAFERDRILL project

Duration of the project: 01/09/2005 – 31/12/2007

The SAFEDRILL project is a research project of which I.CO.P. was coordinator. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the CRAFT programme. The industrial objective is to provide a cost-effective system to remotely and automatically perform deep drilling and slope stability analysis thus reducing operating costs and working time, while avoiding the human presence in unsafe and harsh environment.

PROSPIE project

Duration of the project: 01/12/2009 – 30/11/2012

Contribution: 13.392 €

The PROSPIE project is a research project in which I.CO.P. participated. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the FP7 programme. The goal of the research project is to develop special features of the work wear, supplemented with a dynamic cooling system in order to prevent workers from hyperthermia, smart interfaces for measuring essential physical parameters of workers. The data processing will be based on algorithms which take personal aspects of the worker into consideration. When critical limits are exceeded, the worker will be alerted by (tactile) actuators. In case there is no reaction, rescue workers will be alerted.

COAST-BEST project

Duration of the project: 01/01/2010 – 31/07/2013

Contribution: 43.940 €

The COAST-BEST project is a research project in which I.CO.P. participated. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the LIFE+ programme. The main objective of the project is to preserve the quality of coastal zones through integrated management of sediments from dredging activities in small harbours. The integrated management approach is expected to lead to the implementation of a network-based system coordinating the 9 small harbours located in the Emilia-Romagna Region, which will include all the sediments-related activities (i.e., dredging, separa-tion/treatment, reuse, and disposal).

EINSTEIN project

Duration of the project: 01/01/2012 – 31/12/2015

Contribution: 365.458,75 €

The EINSTEIN project is a research project in which I.CO.P. participated. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the FP7 programme. The goal of the project is to reduce primary energy consumption in buildings through the use of solar thermal energy in combination with heat pumps and a heating system based on Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) concept to cover the requirement of space heating and domestic hot water.

INREQ project

Duration of the project: 01/07/2012 – 30/06/2015

Contribution: 347.281,62 €

The INREQ project is a research project in which I.CO.P. participated. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the FP7 programme. The project aims to develop special proto-type and experimental rescue equipment to increase the safety, work comfort and effectiveness of mines rescue teams and to ensure safety of rescue operations in the event of an accident. This goal has been accomplished with the creating of new tools and of a system for monitoring biometric and working conditions, with data transfer via a dedicated communication system to the rescue centre.

STRIT project

Duration of the project: 01/11/2010 – 31/10/2013

Contribution: none

The STRIT project is a research project in which I.CO.P. participated. The project was co-founded by the European Commission within the PON 2007-2013 programme. The purpose of the project is to develop technologies and tools for the safety management of risk-exposed transportation infrastructures. The developed technologies aim to analyse and minimize the risks both for individual structures and at the infrastructural system level. Moreover, the analysis of the safety of the transportation infrastructure looks both at the life-cycle and at the occurrence of point-in-time hazardous events as earthquakes.
