The mass stabilization with the ALLU SYSTEM is a fast and cheap way to consolidate land and dredged mixing them with dry binders and binding them into the stabilized mass in order to substantially enhance the matrix mechanical behaviour and eventually reduce contaminants mobility. From an environmental point of view, this technology can be considered part of the inertization process.
Mass stabilization is the most widely used technology for the recovery of dredged material and it is the simplest system for its reuse in the construction of port infrastructures, such as confined disposal facilities.
In particular, the new Italian law regarding dredging operations and sediments management (D.M. 7th November 2008), considers sediments as a “resource” and no more as “waste”, allowing an optimal use of ALLU technology in all operations concerning seabeds environmental remediation and the concurrent development of the port area.
